About the Event

The Carroll Baldwin Memorial Institute and Cultura Plenera invite you to “Puerto Rico in Savage”!

"Puerto Rico in Savage" is a free public celebration presented by the Carroll Baldwin Memorial Institute in collaboration with Cultura Plenera, offering the Savage community and the broader Maryland public an immersive experience of Puerto Rican culture and traditions as practiced by Puerto Rican Marylanders. This vibrant event fosters community connection through music, dance, and art, creating space for cultural exchange and shared celebration by honoring the heritage of Puerto Rican residents while welcoming people of all backgrounds to participate.

This event will feature live music, cultural demonstrations, and community workshops, all highlighting the richness of Puerto Rican traditions. Central to the event will be performances by Los Hijo ‘e Plena, Cultura Plenera’s musical ensemble, which specializes in Bomba and Plena, two Afro-Puerto Rican musical genres.
